Now that Camlito is a permanent part of our family, I’ve been wanting to take him out pretty much everywhere: the beach, the park, all up in my friends’ faces. Problem is, though I am diligent about the lens cap, sticking him in my black-hole pit of a Longchamp bag isn’t working out that well. The fit may be fine, but the debris situation is not.
So, those of you who like to tote around a camera: what kind of camera bag do you use? The Lo & Sons line is beautiful, but in the way where your “awwwww” gets stuck in your throat when you see the price tag. I’d also like something unisex (I’m thinking leather?) so that M feels equally comfortable slinging it over his shoulder.
Any suggestions? Help a sister out! Or else my poor camera will take a death tumble and I won’t be able to harass my poor husband into making me sock puppets when he’s trying to get dressed for work.
I don’t like that world.

Congratulations on the new addition to your family! I was kind of hoping it was a dog at first, which is a totally weird thing for me, a budding photographer herself, to wish on someone else.
I wish I was any help at all, but I just throw my camera into one of these soft cases and carry it separately from my bag. I also have a big camera bag that can hold the body and all of my lenses, but I know you don’t want that to start out. I recommend something in neon pink pleather so all of the hoodlum thieves will see you coming from miles away.
I mean, I feel like the pink pleather is obvious, I just haven’t been able to find it anywhere!
Ah, I’m in the same boat … These were some options I was looking into: http://lookforpinky.wordpress.com/2013/01/26/wanted-a-camera-bag/
But I still haven’t pull the trigger yet. Would love to see what you end up with. Good luck.
All of those are really pretty! Thanks for the recs
Just so you know, I’m totally going to mooch of the suggestions of this post
I’ve had my guy for a year and have been using this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00390JT1O/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It has been great for the rougher stuff we’ve been on like hikes and such (even has a waterproof cover that pops out the side), but as I’m thinking about taking my lady out on the town more, I’d like to have a more fashion ready case that meets both handbag and camera requirements.

No less affordable but super cute and somewhat unisex for when the camera gets too heavy and you need somebody else to lug it for a while. Full disclosure- I haven’t pulled the trigger on it but I’ve had it pinned for over a year and one day… it will be mine.
Also, I have to Lo & Sons O.G. bag and it really is fantastic-I’ve carried it everywhere for a year and it hasn’t shown any signs of wear and tear (and it fits SO MUCH)
Amanda – I’ve been dying over the O.G. & O.M.G bags, but I was totally bummed out to see that they don’t fit 15″ MacBook Pros (it actually seems like a bit of an oversight given the clientele).
You make a good point that they’d be great for cameras – I’d been considering more for overnight travel and as a carry-on.
Have you tried this out with this sized lap-top by chance? I read in the FAQ that the 15″ can be squeezed into the O.G…
Sorry to hi-jack your comments section with my questions, Julie! xx
Dude, I want to know everything about the Lo & Sons bags, too. I am a little obsessed with them.
Ugh, Amanda, that one is gorgeous too! I’ll be pinning this too…not sure where that’ll get me, but hey.
You should try Kelly Moore bags – I have 2 of her camera bags and I LOVE them!
